Oct 01, 2019

What's up guys. Welcome back to another episode on the kiss, my money podcast today, I'm going to talk to you about what successful people say. And there's a couple of incredible quotes from a couple of incredible people that talk about this. And when I first came across this idea, I didn't completely understand it. And this is something that's come up recently with a one on one client of mine to a really large extent. And I want to share that example and what it actually means. So Warren Buffett is one of those people who have so many incredible quotes, so many to do with investing and money and wealth. And he's definitely a mentor of mine, particularly with some of his investing philosophies. And it's something that I talk about a lot actually in the master class that I do on the stock market. And I'm going to put the link in the show notes, if you haven't signed up to that yet, because if there's anything stopping you, ID bunk, a lot of those myths, but something else he talks about is the difference between successful people and really, really, really successful people.

And bear in mind that success is something that is subjective, meaning your success and version of that and what that looks like and what that means and what makes up success is different to what I view as success, right? But I think that this applies to everyone, regardless of what success means to you. And he says this, the difference between successful people and really, really, really successful people is that the really successful say no to almost everything. And when I first came across this, I didn't really understand it. I kind of thought, is it because they say no, because therefore they keep their money and save their money and invest it. And they don't spend the money on those things, but it's not that at all, I've actually come to realize and fully understand what it means, which is when you know what you want when you know what you want to create when you know exactly what you're working towards, what sets your soul on fire?

What is the most meaningful to you? What you value the most in this world. And when you're crystal clear about that, it becomes so easy, but you will be constantly presented with other options, opportunities, and possibilities and options. And the instant gratification monkey comes in and what happens is, and he be very, very easy to stray from the path of what you want. And so the most successful people saying no to the things that aren't on their path, it can be so easy to say yes to, you know, whatever it is like going out with friends or a new opportunities come up or a job offer that you might be really up your alley or a new client or assigned or project. But yeah, what happens is they're not necessarily in line with what you want. And I've noticed this a lot with some of the one on one clients I work with.

And a lot of people, especially in the entrepreneurial space of buying in and saying yes, because of the fear of missing out or worse, this scarcity mindset of worrying that another opportunity is not going to come their way. I'm going, I'll give you an example of this because there can be subtle nuances. So recently I was given the opportunity to feature on the next, uh, I guess, version of what would be the next secret. So, you know, the movie, the secret, there was an opportunity for me to be featured in the next movie that is going to be very, very similar to that same sort of, um, high profile, um, influential talk isn't speakers. And I'm not sure the name of it, uh, of the movie, but it's going to be kind of along those lines, right? So I had the opportunity to feature in that, be part of that movie.

And it obviously comes with an investment price tag, uh, but the opportunity that comes out of it is huge. And I had to really think about it. I had to really think about is that in line with my path, is that in line with where I want to take ms. Wealthy, the business is that in line with my message and what I help my clients do, what I help women to, and my focus on financial empowerment. And in the end, it worked out to be that it wasn't the focus of the movie. Isn't really in line with it. And it's not another movie about manifesting and it's not kind of that focus, but so I had to kind of think about whether it was actually putting me on that path and it was a no. And here's the thing about opportunity. There is an abundance of it.

This is something that I have always believed. There is an abundance of opportunity. There is no lack of something else coming along. There is no lack of, you know, your doors being open to you in ways that you can't even imagine. But what happens is because sometimes the FIA sets in that scarcity mindset, like I said, sets in, and there's the worry that they worked, something like this won't come around again. So I'm going to share another example that happened recently to one of my clients. So I am helping this particular client that is working with me one on one scale, their business, to be a seven figure business. And I'm helping them set themselves up financially. So that not only are they a seven figure earner, but they're also a seven figure net wealth individual. So they have at least a seven figures in their net worth because when you have an investment polo, four foot portfolio that is worth, say a million dollars, then that means that passively you're making on average, a hundred thousand dollars who making six figures often more on that investment portfolio.

So just by doing nothing, you're making six figures. So I am helping them set this up. And something came up with, for them an opportunity that came up for them to work with Richard Brunson and be alongside a bunch of other orange preneurs in one of, you know, an exclusive, um, setting to be part of. I can't talk a lot about it, but B be part of something that they're creating in the future. And I have been speaking with this particular one Oh one client about essentially whether that's on their path, but not only that, whether that's on that path right now, because it's actually what the focus is to work on with Richard Branson and this opportunity that's come along. It's not actually in line with specifically what my client wants to create and where they want to take that company and what they want to do, what their message is.

But here's the clean shot. Richard Branson for them is their number one mentor. And we all have, you know, key mentors and like the people that we would love to meet love to pick their brain, or, you know, like when an opportunity like that comes along, how hard is it to say no, but here's the thing. There will be another opportunity to work with Richard Branson. Not only because is this person in looped into that network, but it's also because there is an abundance of opportunity. These kinds of things never go away. And if you believe deeply in the power of the universe, then you know that the universe often also will continue to send you new opportunities, but continue to send you new ways to align with what you want to create, because there is an abundance of it out there. And so it can be super small in your life that you might be saying yes to, or could be really big things. But really the most important thing is to be super clear about what it is that you want and say no to everything that doesn't fit in with that, that might be

That. Yeah,

I have to say no to clients that don't align with you. That might be that, you know, you might think that you want to go and explore some opportunity that comes up, but actually, if it just sounds cool or looks cool, or if it's to do with your ego, then it doesn't necessarily mean it's the right thing. I I've always had this saying, and it's kind of almost another way to think about this quote and think about this idea about saying no to almost everything that isn't aligned with, what you want. And that is, I've always said, if it's not a hell, yes, then it's a no, like if something comes up and it could be literally as small as like catching up with a friend and going out for a, I say no to a lot of social opportunities and a lot of like social outings, because I want to make them specific and special.

And I don't want to go out every second or every night or every, even every third night, because it's not necessarily in line with me and what I want to do when I w what I want to focus on. And so it can be like super small. It can be something that you're buying or purchasing. It can be, you know, a job offer a client, a project. If it's not a hell, yes. Then it's a NAR. And it even is with things like travel. You probably know if you don't already that travel is a huge part of my life. And it is one of the things that makes up, uh, what brings me the most joy. And so when it comes to travel, there is a lot of option is right. I have friends going away, there are group, um, you know, travel opportunities. There is so much possibility of what I could join and do, but often it's not a hell.

Yes. And so for me, it's a no, and I want to create and do and experience things that are always and consistently a hell. Yes. And so, when I was reminded of this quote, and when this has come up into my world, working with this client on this, particularly, it's something that I really wanted to share with you guys as well, because I think that it's easy to say, yes, the hard thing is to signer. The hard thing is to turn down something, without having a real solid reason, except for the fact that it's not a hell yes, or except for the fact that it's just not in line with what you want. And some people don't understand that, but it's your responsibility, your job to literally protect your time, your energy, your home, money, your resources, and protect you from things that don't completely serve you.

And don't completely align with what it is that's most important to you. And it all comes back to values and it all comes back to your goals, right? And these kinds of things are like rammed into us. I know that if you go to any performance coach or any sort of development, personal development work goals are not a new concept. And yet so many people are not clear on what they want. So if this is one takeout from, from this today that I would love you to do is to write down what it is that you want. What's it, what it is. Do you know, do you want, in the next three months, six months, three years, 10 years, 20 years, what is it? What does it look like? What does it feel like specifically? What is it most important to you? It is so interesting to me that such a huge part of the population are going through their life day to day, week to week, month to month, not questioning it, not thinking about it and having no direction towards what they're actually doing and what they're actually working on.

This is so important. And then the next step is to literally say no to everything that doesn't align with those exact things that set your soul on fire, those things that are most meaningful to you, and that make your life and your world light up. All right, that's it for today. I hope that you take even just two minutes, three minutes to go and do that, write those things down and really put them into your subconscious to wake up every day and be excited about what you're creating. You can always DMA and tell me what it is because I love people sharing those kinds of things with me. Otherwise, I will see you next time.
